Artwork & Specs

Specifications

ELECTRONIC ARTWORK: Electronic artwork should be saved as PDF files. Be sure to use the "embed all fonts" setting, and a resolution of 300 dpi.

PHOTOS: Scanned photos to be e-mailed should be saved as JPEG files. If you are using a digital camera, remember: we need a file resolution of 200 dots per inch (dpi). Your digital camera probably has a "small," "medium" and "large" setting for your photos. A "medium" or "large" setting should give you the required file size. "Small" will be unacceptable for publishing. After shooting your photos, just send us the .jpg files directly from your camera's disk or storage chip.

AD SIZES:

Business Card/Services Directory: 3-5/8"W x 2-1/4"H

Quarter Page: 3-5/8"W x 4-3/4"H

Half page: 7-1/2"W x 4-3/4"H, or 3-5/8"W x 9-3/4"H.

Full Page: 7-1/2"W x 9-3/4"H. For ads with bleeds, see below

Full Page with Bleeds - Our trim size is 8-3/8 x 10-3/4. (Keep live material 1-4 inside the trimline.) In addition, an extra 1/4 in of bleed is required all around, for a full bleed size of 8-7/8 x 11.25.

Logos and illustrations built using Freehand or Illustrator are always acceptable. Save them as .eps files with a Macintosh preview for importing into our Adobe InDesign ad layouts.

Much consumer-level software, including word processors, is not designed to produce layouts for later importing into other programs. This can create problems or render the ad unusable in our electronic workflow. If you feel you absolutely must design your own ad in a word processor, be aware that you must be able to save the ad in a format we can use, usually as a PDF or EPS file.

Sending files on disk - Files will be accepted on CD. Mail the disk to: Horsemen's Marketplace, PMB #521, 14845 SW Murray Scholls Dr, Suite 110, Beaverton, OR 97007.
